RELEASE: Emperor 0.2

After months of inactivity and a week or two of frantic coding, I am happy to be able to announce that the Emperor file manager is back with a new release! Emperor “Basil”, version 0.2, can be downloaded from the emperor website.

Emperor is a Commander-style (“orthodox”) file manager for the GNOME desktop. It is written in Vala and, unlike similar programs such as GNOME Commander or mc, it uses GIO in order to integrate with the GNOME desktop and to take advantage of GVfs-FUSE.

New in version 0.2:

  • Image preview pane
  • Launch Terminal and Meld from inside Emperor
  • Translated into Czech and German
  • Many new keyboard shortcuts for increased efficiency
  • Bug fixes
  • New icon

RELEASE: Vinyl Scrobbler 0.1/0.1.1

I'm happy to announce the first release of Vinyl Scrobbler, an Android app that allows you to manually scrobble your vinyl records, cassettes, or other offline media found in the Discogs database, to Last.fm with minimal effort.

Vinyl Scrobbler makes it easy to find the right record simply by scanning its barcode with your phone's camera, but also allows searching by name for old records or bootlegs that don't carry a barcode. It lets you scrobble a complete album or individual sides, volumes or tracks after you've listened to them.
